Using AI to learn and accelerate yourself
May 2, 2026
We live in the golden age of learning where you can learn anything easily.
I tend to have imposter syndrome trigger every AI update I see on Twitter because I think what if I become replaced? I stopped having those thoughts and tried to reframe the negative thoughts to thoughts of positivity.
I now ask myself, how could I use AI to better myself? What new thing could I learn with AI? As a designer, the answer was learning how to read code and diving into how components / interactions are made. I used to be terrified of react, typescript, js, you name it. Now, I just view it as commands to tell my computer what to do.
I've been able to use AI as a pair programmer / mentor to code along with and its been great! I've learned how to create my own web app and identified more code smells. I think that learning to code has brought up edge cases to me that I don't think I would've seen if I was just designing. Learning to code made me a better designer because of this.
I can even dive into interactions where I would think to myself, how did they even do that? Even though I'm not developer first, I feel that I can hop in a code base and feel comfortable manuevering around and making any UI, interaction, or motion changes myself.
Although I'm not the biggest fan of vibe coding, I think that you're able to maximize vibe coding once you understand what's happening in the code and what the AI is outputting. For myself, I feel I'm at the point where me coding a docs site isn't the best use of my time because that's more time consuming since I've made a decent amount of websites in the past. I think the meta here is to use AI to better myself then use it to maximize yourself and push yourself to learn other things. Happy learnings and good luck out there!
