SEC. 01 — Overview

In my creativity process, the main pain point I had was feeling scattered jumping between several tools. AsteriskProd is a productivity suite designed to combine features of tools I've personally used in the past into one unified experience starting with a note taking tool.

SEC. 02 — Challenges

There were 2 major challenges when creating AsteriskProd. The first challenge was creating an intuitive note taking experience. The second challenge was addressing the edge cases and how to properly test user experience in my app.

SEC. 03 — Solutions

The first challenge was addressed by changing my approach to the overall problem and designing what I know is essential to a note taking experience then designing the rest of the screen around that. The second challenge was addressed by taking reflections after each test, one exploration test for technical users, and a usability test for not so technical users. Being able to take both types of data from their experiences using the app also helped me brain storm potential edge cases.

SEC. 04 — Reflection

Aside from the technical challenges that I faced when building this project, finishing v1 of AsteriskProd made me reflect on my previous design approach versus the approach I had on this project. I think dissecting the problem into bite size chunks made the problem as a whole way easier to tackle as I could approach it bit by bit instead of being greeted by a giant wall. I plan on incorporating v1.1 of features and starting the second feature in AsteriskProd soon after the design system v1.1 is complete.
